Also, please note: my oldest LGD does come inside sometimes. And he was from the pound as a puppy (my friend raised and trained him). So not saying these are always wrong lol.

This was our Great Pyrenees. He was a house pet, but he did absolutely amazing with our chickens and would always protect them

Now as someone who doesn’t have an LGD (or a need/desire for one) I would love to be able to ask questions and gain insight from someone with experience. But I live in the Midwest, our temps go from -30 up to 110. Also maybe it’s just the way we are here, folks would just answer the questions or…. pretend they didn’t see it 😎

Genuine question- when the dogs get too old for it to be safe for them or helpful for the livestock for them to be outside do you bring them inside for their golden years?

I have a Great Pyrenees that we adopted from the shelter because his previous owner didn’t train them. He is the worst guard dog let’s anyone into the house😂😂 he is great at making sure the couch doesn’t float away

My niece got a GP and didn't realize how big it would get 🤣🤣 I didn't really want a dog (just had to put one down a month before) but she was young and free. We brought her home and had her around the chickens with us from day 1. She just laid down watching them. They are in a fenced in area most of the time and coop at night. She's killed or chased away other animals including the neighbors German Shepherd when he gets to close to the chickens. She didn't keep him far enough away though, she had his pups 2 weeks ago.

we had 2 great Pyrenees Anatolian mixes that were the best. they would let chickens lay on top of them and snuggles the barn cats when it was cold.

This is Mabel our great Pyrenees Akbash cross. She dose a great job patrolling our farm, and has even took in some of our neighbours under her wing.

Haha! I saw a Husky wearing a sweater in Thailand in December/winter. Winter there is approximately 70-85 F during the day with minimal cool down at night. Most Thai people wear puffy jackets when it’s close to 70. The way some folks treat dogs is so…. Silly.
