When my childhood friend passed right after high school, her parents moved and in their new home, the created a little nook filled with her pictures and some of her favorite things that they could sit in “be with her”. You could create a “Poppy nook”.

FWIW, my friend who lost her daughter in a very similar way to your Poppy, couldn’t move because of the memories. After a decade they did decide to move, and the move truly helped her severe depression and complicated grief. Her therapists think that she had PTSD from the death, and staying in the home must have been retraumatizing her, even though it felt comfortable and safe. Happy for y’all!

All of that to share..earlier this year I purposely planted poppies for your girl. I have been so discouraged that they hadn’t bloomed. To my surprise, I walked out to one today! when my husband and I moved after the death of our daughter I was devastated. I felt like we were leaving her behind. but when we finally moved in. it was such a breath of relief. We felt like we were able to move forward ❤️

friends of ours lost their daughter at nineteen (though she was more like 3-5 in terms of size and development) sadly they lost their home due to financial difficulties but they were so thankful because it had become too much of a shrine and moving allowed them to process their grief more fully. praying that this new home will bring your family a bigger life and that it'll be a positive next step ❤️

Congratulations! Moving is exciting! Poppy will always be with you no matter where you are! You, dad, Rosie and Peter are poppy not the home! Feelings are valid though I cried when my mom sold our childhood home because that is where I lived with my dad. I was 10 when he passed and 30 when she moved but my dad is still with me!

totally understand you saying a home for the kids to go older in. (I know I'm not saying it exact, apologies) I feel like you have a home while they are young and functional that way. then one as the kids are older and abilities to entertain more. we had done similar. and like said YOU 4 ARE HOME TO POPPY, not the brick and morter. congratulations!!! 🥰🥰
