Not sure what island you're on but unless things have drastically changed, most don't have A/C. Electricity is too expensive. We had solar for years. I only had access to AC when I worked in other people's homes or at work.

I had a couple of nightmare move inside. the first is when we signed a contract to move in 6 weeks in advance. move in days, the house is FULL of trash (literally trash and then the additional junk items). Landlord is late for move in time to give us key. He opens the door and nothing, absolutely nothing was cleaned. it looked a cat had been cooked in the oven (have never seen so much hair on the inside of any appliance)! I was 5 months pregnant and we had a 4yr old. Luckily my in laws and my 2 brother in laws were out from Boston to help us move. My awesome Mother and law and I cleaned rooms as we went. Bug bombs in the middle of the floor in each room and drugs and paraphernalia in every room (he had a whole page in lease about no drug use in house). As soon as a room was cleaned we moved that's rooms contents/boxes into it. Landlord handed us keys after being here for an hour, "cleaning the trash in yard" - he left with nothing, just put trash into new unopened trash bags. He said he'd have it cleaned out next weekend. we waited for weekend 2 and my parents came out to clean the junk and trash (filled up 2 trailers - the ones you pull behind a car). We HAD to get rid of the trash because apparently it had been a health violation that the town had notified former tenant and landlord about and it was causing a RAT infestation in the area. behind the trash we found a shed (that's how high the pile was) and that we full of trash too. once we cleaned it, problem eventually stopped. Landlord also had no fence or clear seperation from the townhouse behind us, so their kids were constantly in our front yard under the apple tree leaving toys and trash and swearing up a storm. the neighbor even complained that we mowed our lawn and not theirs (we were doing it, the landlord should make us do theirs? we decided the cut off between the two was the shed because that was halfway between - we turned the shed and then put yard items to make a line (he did later put a fence between the two, using the shed we moved and a gate next to it). There were problems all the time and we didn't even bother fixing anything. It shortly got to the point that either we fixed it or we sent t

make sure you have a very good security system. these "randos" are probably people being sent to see if you're home or oblivious enough. they could be planning to rob you, whoever it is, whether it's the landlord, previous tenant or someone else.

Church?! 🤣 My stepfather....yeah, met at church, active in the organization, took out life insurance policies & actively planned to alive us. Yep, always the best folks at church. No one in church would use, abuse and steal. Nope, never. 😂
