The second: emaciated, bones sharp under skin, body wasting, laid on a towel as if discarded. These are the before and after. The “before” was soon after October 2023, when the current Israeli assault on Gaza began. The “after” is today — 671 days into war, siege, genocide, and man-made famine. 📷 Photos by Ahmad’s brother, Fadi. Fadi was eight when Ahmad was born in Jabalia, Gaza. They watched cartoons, kept chickens, and dreamed of getting a bike. At five, Ahmad began falling — face-first. Diagnosis: Duchenne muscular dystrophy. No cure. Only care — care needing electricity, medicine, food, specialists. Now, Ahmad is not only severely disabled — he is starving to death. What happens to people with disabilities in siege and famine? We already know the answer. Four years ago, Fadi left Gaza to work for an electric wheelchair. Today, he’s begging for help to evacuate his family. Doctors say Ahmad doesn’t have long.
