These parents also need to look internally and fix the issue as to why the child stopped talking to them in the first place.

I agree with Maria that children have their own set of issues that have nothing to do with the parent and the acting out is so painful to watch as a parent. Separation is important at that point and knowing that the only way to move on is to grieve what has happened.

Don’t forget some adult children are pressured by their partner./ abusive other parent. The abusive partner or other parent paints the parents black and the child goes along with it.

Mother of 4 adult children here. I have a great relationship with all of my children and grandkids, not because I was perfect. but because I am self aware. I took responsibility for my wrong doings, apologized and treat them like people not objects I own. your kids won't speak to you? Fix yourself!
