i did this few years ago to some old couple that didnt had enough money to buy salmon to christmas table.. i told the cashier that this is on me, add my sandwich and coke in and paid all to them. that old man tried to resist at first and woman thanked me.. when i carried bags to their car, they told that their oldest son is coming back to home with his family and its going to be their last christmas in their home since they are too old to take care of house. All their kids had born there and that salmon is their sons favourite dish in christmas table..

One time I was at a gas station, man in front of me was trying to pay for gas and some snacks, however his card was damaged and the reader wouldn't take it, he had no other form of payment. I added my stuff to his and paid for all of it. He insisted on getting my contact info so that he could pay me back, I told him "don't pay me back, pay it forward." He asked "are you saying to pay you back, I just need to help someone else who needs it?" I smiled at him, nodded, and walked away. I hope he had his chance to pay it forward.
