For generations, it remained a seat of influence. Yet more than the powerful men, the house became known for its women—the Wangsisi Chum, the Rich Ladies of Wangsisina. Six generations are remembered: Chimi Wangmo, Tandin Bidha, Dargom, Phub Sithu, Sangay Dema, and Dechen Wangmo, who still lives there today with her children. Some even believe one of them was the reincarnation of Changi Bum Gylem. Today, the house is open as a heritage museum, largely untouched by time. The massive compound walls, the aged wooden doors, and the deep marks on the staircases all tell stories of generations past. It is said that the family once kept over a hundred servants, and the remains of smaller structures around the house support this. But beyond history, the most enduring mystery is the legend of Wang Sisi Chumo. She was believed to be the richest woman in the Wang Valley. No one knew how she gained her wealth. According to legend, it came from a mysterious source. Every night, under complete darkness, caravans would arrive carrying salt, cattle, and treasures of all kinds. These deliveries always came before the first crow of the rooster. For years, the wealth flowed without question. Until one morning, the rooster crowed too early. The caravan, still on its way, was caught in the first light of dawn. In that moment, it froze—turned into stone before reaching the house. To this day, the cliff across the river is believed to be the remains of that cursed caravan. The house still stands, watching over the valley. Visitors walk through its halls and admire its history, but some say if you listen closely, you can still hear something arriving in the night… just before dawn.
