We also made a stop at this ice cave is such a casual way to describe walking inside a structure made of thousands of years of compressed snow and ice, but here we are. There’s something surreal about standing inside a glacier with your friends, surrounded by walls of blue ice that formed before any of us were born, before our grandparents were born, before most of human civilization existed. The light filtering through creates this otherworldly glow that doesn’t look real even when you’re standing in it. Everyone goes quiet for a second when you first walk in not because anyone said to, but because being inside ancient ice just does that to you. It’s cold in a way that feels geological, not seasonal. You’re not just in a cave, you’re literally inside a living piece of Earth’s climate history. Then someone breaks the silence with this is insane and suddenly everyone’s exploring, touching the walls (yes it’s actually ice yes it’s actually that blue), taking photos that won’t capture how massive this feels, trying to process that we’re standing underneath tons of ice that could’ve been snow falling during the Roman Empire. Ice caves hit different when you’re with people who get it who understand this isn’t just another photo op but a genuinely rare experience most people will never have. We went from regular hiking to walking through frozen time, and everyone’s face says the same thing: “Wait, we get to DO this?!” Making stops at ice caves with the right crew any touristy activity ever 🧊 #whistler #bucketlist #exploration #nature #cave
