I try to expose my keepers to all possible techniques then let them feel out what is best for them.

I teach gk’s ranging from 1st grade to HS. I lean towards the W as I use it personally however I also show them the triangle as well and let them decide what’s more comfortable for them.

I teach the w technique based on experience. I've noticed new keepers try to sandwich the ball with their hand and I use it to keep their hands together. My experienced keepers have graduated to a separated diamond

yes, i was taught w but I personally have small hands so I instinctively use triangle technique, I have used w before and I have no problem with it but I usually us the triangle technique

I don’t know what they teach GKs. I just came here to say that, yes, “Goalkeepers are very different.” Kinda like goaltenders in hockey and pitchers in baseball. They’re just…different. 😂😂😂. Love the content - keep it going.

I think the triangle technique makes more sense, but if I see a senior goalkeeper coach do the w and it works, you shouldn’t try to change it at that age. Similarly, I’ve been told to use my knee as safety protection when using the shovel technique, and now the popular technique is to not use it, and I’ve been told to change it. Like no, I’m gonna work on the things that DON‘T work

I use the w because I literally don't know why I keep dropping the ball when it's a triangle

i think I'm typically somewhere between a triangle and an arrow (thumbs more parallel to palm than perpendicular), wear a 10 non finger protection

The cramp is killing me😭 I was thought the W teqnique but was told by my coaches that wrist are too close together so I’ve had to adjust and switch more to a triangle which has helped
