My rising junior reads out loud, she has to, she doesn’t have an internal dialogue, so she doesn’t hear her silent thoughts, she needs to say everything out loud to retain it.

I’ve realized that I’m also an auditory learner! When I read out loud and basically talk to myself it’s so much easier for me to remember and understand. Visual learning works but to make topics really sit in my brain I need to say it out loud. Background noise like rain sounds helps me focus A LOT. I’m going to try your tip with listening to the same song each time I study! 🩷

for me verbal repetition helped. I would take my notes and repeat over and over and walk around my living room until I memorized and tried to explain it to myself. or I would take a video of myself asking questions based of the material I would give my self time to respond and then reveal the correct answer and try to explain it if i was wrong then I would go back and review and answer those questions from the video. it sounds confusing but it would help

I try to do all of these but my problem is that there’s always stuff on the test that’s not in the book and idk how to find that information because idk what’s coming lol

One thing that helped for me was rewriting notes over and over. I would write it the first time reeaally messy, like to the point I had to inspect it to read what I wrote. Then I’d write it neatly and then I’d do my best to rewrite it by memory on my whiteboard. I’d also play classical music and pretend I’m writing letters to aaron burr or something
