Hamburg are one of Germany's oldest clubs and held the remarkable record of being the only side to never be relegated from the Bundesliga from its founding in 1963 to 2018. After 55 years they found themselves in the 2.Bundesliga for the first time and only just won promotion back to the big time. In celebration of their return Adidas have produced an absolutely magnificent home shirt. The design revives and reimagines one of HSV’s most iconic jerseys, the 1994–95 diamond motif. Instead of red and black diamonds, they refreshed the graphic with a bold blue-and-black sawtooth pattern sweeping across the shoulders and upper chest, flowing into the crisp white torso. The shoulders and sleeves are in a rich royal blue with a small black cuff while the three strips featured in black. The collar also sees a blue and black combo and looks really classy. The club crest is one of my absolute favourites and it is beautifully embroidered on this shirt as is the Adidas logo. The HanseMerkur logo sits on the centre of the chest, the back of the shirt is entirely white with the full club name running along the back of the shoulders. The sleeves feature the Bundesliga and Plan International patches while the side vents see a tapered black design. I have always loved the Hamburg club crest and this design finally gave me a reason to add a shirt to my collection. After seven long years Hamburg are back and they're bringing the style.
