In this case, the engine was installed on a Toyota Versa, the engine designation on this concern is 1WW. The engine did not start and when cranking with the starter, it was heard that there was no compression in it. From this, it could be concluded that the engine received internal damage associated with the upper camshaft drive chain. This is a very common and widespread problem with N47 engines. The upper chain stretches, the chain dampers are worn out, as a result of which the chain slips on the gears. This, in turn, leads to irreversible damage to the valve timing mechanism.
