That was really rude of them, and it showed how ill-mannered they are. Also everyone who is learning a new language will speak more slowly compared to native speakers. I’m sure if I was trying to speak to the commenter in English or even Spanish rapidly, they would either ask me to repeat myself or slow down.

I remember living there and seeing “Japanese only” bars. You couldn’t get away with that in the UK - imagine us putting “English only” on places. We had colour segregation not too long ago, it feels backwards!

Its crazy because many Japanese dont even want HALF Japanese people to have dual citizenship to move there and bolster their declining population because we arent pure Japanese. Which is crazy because i would gladly live in my late grandfathers land ( that is unused now and overgrown) where he farmed rice on a mountain WHERE 600 YEARS OF MY ANCESTORS ARE BURRIED. Smh. I promise you though most people in the countryside are nicer than city folk on average in Japan from my experience.
