Even if, IF the Lannister gold mines ran dry, they’d still be one of the richest houses in Westeros. They own vast lands, control key cities like Lannisport, have fleets, and collect taxes from their territories. Losing one source of income doesn’t mean they suddenly go broke.

everyone gets the Book Lannisters confused with the Show Lannisters. I the show it's stated that the Lannister mines have run dry and that they were broke. But in the books the Westerlands and Castery Rock still have massive amounts of gold stored

Show watchers don’t understand how unfathomably rich the Lannisters are. Imagine King Charles + the rockefellers but they’ve been that rich for 4000+ years (or all of our recorded history)

Tywin didnt restore the fear he created it. He is not like any Lannister before him. The Lannisters are more like the Tyrells and the ruthlessness was pure Tywins creation

he's good using money as a weapon, he's not actually good with money. i mean why bother if you have access to basically an unlimited gold supply? the way the Lannisters use their money they are lucky GRRM doesnt understand inflation

ALSO, the goldmines are a great source of income, but not their ONLY source of income. They own land. They are owed tax. Etc. Something an economically minded feudal lord would handle without going 100 to 0 in a year.

so yes in the show when they said specifically the mines under castly rock ran dry 3 years ago, you telling me they don't own more mines, however yes it is stated by jammie, cerice, and twine that titos did infact almost bankrupt the lanissters in the added lore that came with the DVD and blue ray sets however it is also mentioned that tiwin absolutely found other ways of increasing his family profits outside of the gold mines while he was hand to the king, no during the song of its and fire the lords of the westernlands are still the most wealthy family in all of westeros, even with a large debt to the Iron bank after becoming one with the crown, yes tiwin is proven to not be the smartest man in the world by none other than his son train, who had also gotten his mind
