In dry weather, stay at least two seconds behind the car in front; in the rain, double that gap. When stopped, make sure you can see the car’s back wheels and about a metre of road between you and the next car. Maintaining this buffer helps you react quickly and gives space for emergency vehicles or big trucks to reverse when needed.
