There is racism in China. 💯! But its not the hateful racism in America. It’s more the unknown curiosity type that comes with being different.

I just walked into a store in Shanghai and it was their grand opening, I was their first customer and they refused to let me pay for anything. Then she told me she was so proud her first customer was a foreigner.

I've been told China is attempting to move away from racism and was trying to get the US to do the same, but the US wouldn't.

Do you know how hard it's for a Chinese person to see a foreigner if he/she lives in a small City and hasn't been out of the country? When you're black, green, or blue, they will look at you because of curiosity. Honestly, for someone who had spent the first 20 years in China and 20 years in the States, racism is pretty rare in China. You don't want me to start talking about racism in the States. It's a systemic issue here. It's something the government should work harder to fix. A simple no racism slogan is not gonna cut it.

Haha thanks man, people misunderstand China so bad. My husband is from China and while some of his family has misconceptions and stuff about black people (which I corrected) they generally wouldn’t treat yall different and may even treat yall better because of the novelty and honor of having such a foreign person visit.

I always got the impression that they were more curious (kinda like children) about “outsiders.”

I'm so tired why we always talk about racism 24/7 imagine we spent that time being productive like building our countries and communities instead. This is some low frequency stuff, racism should be called out if it's vile but we act like racism isn't simply human nature, we are "racist" towards ourselves towards our own people within our own communities.

Word. I’ve been to China as a Chinese American for the first time & when they knew I was from America they treated me like a semi-celebrity. They’re interested on what the best country in the world is like. If you black or white this effect is even greater! Cause you’re seen as full American 😂

There is arrogance in China, but not systematic racism. That thing was invented in the west.
