fun fact, the wreckages weren't "pushed," the Missouri River just naturally moves over time, even without intervention. they sank in the river, and then the river moved away.

Steamboat Arabia Museum in Kansas City is a true treasure, it displays myriads of items they found on the sunken ship upon recovery. they also have artisans out in the open actively restoring items, and members of the family that dug it up walk around and interact with guests. five stars.

"middle of Kansas" is a strange thing to say when your map is of northern MO, and Malta Bend, MO is in... Missouri. Missouri River barely touches Kansas. would you care to explain?

You said middle of Kansas, and then you proceeded to only show Missouri.

If you are ever remotely close to Kansas City you MUST go to the Steamship Arabia Museum. Imagine a Target being buried and almost everything was perfectly preserved 150 years later and on display

I was obsessed with this when I was a kid and I was desperate to find a ship wreck in our field. I never found one, due to our tremendous distance from the Missouri River.

And no, it wasn’t ’because it’s in a cornfield’ that there wasn’t any water damage. It was because of the mud and the fact there was no oxygen it preserved the items.
