Calling Beyer mediocre is wild. The 990 has had its day but Beyer make some awesome headphones. I have the 1990 Pros and they're awesome. Got me some great IEMs too 🙌

I feel like it's fairly important to specify the purpose here. Sure, 770s or 990s aren't "fun" to listen to, but in terms of using them as mixing/production headphones, you see them everywhere for very good reasons. I also feel like calling headphones/drivers "outdated" is a bit... odd. I can't think of a single reason why that would meaningfully affect quality - but to be clear I'm definitely willing to hear a different perspective! :)

I wanted to upgrade from my DT990s so I got some HD660s2 for a week and to my surprise they couldn’t satisfy me as much as the byerdynamics. While acknowledging the better quality I think it’s not worth the price so I stuck to my DT990s since years and I can’t complain they are absolutely worth the price.

They're studio headphones... not gaming. Atleast not without setting up the EQ settings. They're not the absolute best out there but it seems that people misunderstand their purpose: Being reliable and relatively neutral headphones for monitoring or tracking music.

as un a unbiased opinion. I have bought quite a few headsets and the sennheiser hd599 from Amazon are around 100$ incredible sound! 2 things to keep in mind they are open back so pros and cons to that. I love mine. 2nd you will need to buy the mic attachment that replaces the 3.5 aux cable you need to make sure its for that headset they use a weird design. it is also on amazon for around 15$.

as a long term dt770 80ohm user, i can say that i like them very much because you can wear them hours over hours and dont any pain. IEM are way better for fps games, but for me in ears are to unconfortable. Anyway you need artiswar settings to hear better footsteps :) no matter what you wear
