My son was just diagnosed with Absence seizures in February. It was hard to hear. He’s on meds now and doing fairly well. Hoping he will grow out of them.

Our pediatric neurologist told me that these are very common in kids with Autism. My son has these seizures, along with another type if seizures, he was diagnosed w/Autism at age 3, & the seizures weren’t diagnosed until he was 10, for those 8 years he WAS having seizures, we just didn’t realize it until we saw a new geneticist.

My daughter is having an eeg sleep deprived (as that’s when I notice them) can these seizures be diagnosed if there is no seizure at the time of the eeg?

They’re pretty sure I had this as a kid and into high school. And then grew out of it. No one caught it though until I told my neurologist about it. I’d end up writing on my pants while getting them and have no idea how I got marks all over my pants.

My daughter has this. She wasn’t diagnosed until her late twenties. She is 34 now and she has a massive migraine after she has one.

But the EEG rarely catches a seizure unless they are constant. My son did a 48 hr EEG and nothing came up after he most died from a car wreck and had a Sigmoid Colon Resection. It was his first seizure and after a year of doctors trying to find out why that wreck happened they finally diagnosed him with Epilepsy. Neurological disorders like this are sooo scary!

I'm soffer for Migraine Epilepsy with absence seizures and it's looks like the Neurologist doesn't take me to serious and it's actually saying what I have is non-epileptic attacks seizures. When I have the episodes I have exactly the same symptoms.

CPS was called on us when I was young bc they thought I was having these and suspected I was being mistreated. turns out I just needed glasses. Why pay attention to shit I can't fucking see anyway?

looks like she is just zoned out just like the rest of the kids I've never heard of this before even by my husband's doctor that operated on him after his 3 seizures not once I've heard the nurse or anyone of them tell me what kind seizures it is
