idk i feel like it's important to mention that most of so-called "queer fashion" is stolen from black culture 😅😅😅😅😅

I think we need to separate a SEXUALITY with the way we dress. People can just wear what they want🤷♀️

As someone who works in fashion nuance is really important for this argument. Women wearing masculine styles, such as jorts and tailoring, has historically been used as an act of protest toward the patriarchy. The conversation that women cannot wear certain things without the accusation of ‘queer baiting’ is not going to help the oppression of women and this the queer community as the oppression of women is intrincially linked to the oppression of the queer community. Fashion and art have always found inspiration from the queer communities and other minorities such as black culture, and we must highlight this and give credit where it’s due, but I don’t think saying straight people cannot wear certain items of clothing is the way to go about it. That being said I understand where you are coming from completely, the fashion historian in me just can’t help but debate this topic ❤️

YES. I saw a girl who had short dyed blond hair, piercings, worn black jorts, had tank top without sleeves, random tatts, huge carabiner, doc martens and SHE HAS A BOYFRIEND. I went spiraling after this

Although I agree with your points, clothing such as: jorts/ boxier fitting shorts being mainstream isn’t necessarily a problem, it’s showing how fashion is evolving to women’s comfort/ practicality rather than tight fitting hyper-sexualising styles of shorts.

I am straight-ish but wear jorts because they are androgynous and most fashion is designed for the male gaze and jorts feel like a rejection of this. Also I love the shape - a bit 1990s skater boy 😁

I dont think its crazy to use a carabiner for utility. a lot of queer fashion is from blue collar queer history and thats why. if its just as an aesthetic then thats a different story

I think this is kinda problematic, straight people can wear queer clothes, and gay people can wear “straight” clothes nothing is stoping anyone it’s just clothes

You’ll are missing the point. Clothing isn’t adherently a “gay” or “straight” thing but flagging is a very true action with a genuine purpose. If you’re dressing a way that is a part of the flagging culture don’t act insulted and offended when someone assumes otherwise.

I mean, yes but we cant win also because you can be very much gay and people will say "omg the straights girl are dressing like us" - I get what you are saying but Im also sick of people thinking queer identity is based on look...
