I went there back in the 80s, and stumbled across an adult movie video dispensing machine. I have never dared to return. 😹

As an Aussie I went to Blackpool. It was seriously the most depressing, cold, windy, treeless, birdless, foodless, least friendliness tourist place I’ve ever been to on this planet. And it has so much potential if the government spent money on steeet amenity, beachfront and public services. You’re a rich country FFS!

I grew up in Blackpool, and I actually grew up with my parents owning a hotel. 15 years ago, we could have booked out every room in our hotel, every night, three times over.
A big part of the issue for residents is there's a huge lack of prospects, if young people want a decent uni they'll be moving away from Blackpool.
Blackpool desperately needs money spending to make it an attractive place to live. You couldn't convince me to come back. I live in Bournemouth now and comparatively if I went down the beach tomorrow (as long as the rain has cleared) it'll be absolutely rammed. Never in my life have I seen Blackpool that deserted at this time of year, it's a really sad decline because money would really help

I was ‘an oversea tourist’ in Blackpool earlier this year (by accident). Biggest culture shock ever. Absolutely loved it tho. It looked like a F tier American horror movie from the 80’s, but the people were super friendly and welcoming

After being born and raised in Blackpool I left 3 years ago to move to Kendal. Unbelievably I actually can't wait to leave Kendal now. I'm in the process of buying in Preston cos I miss Blackpool and want to be 20 mins away but not actually live there 😂

The issue with the UK is nothing ever gets modernised. All the buildings are decrepit from decades ago and it just makes cities look old, dirty and depressing. It's not modern enough to attract foreign tourism.

The EU was pumping quite a lot of money into Blackpool in an effort to rejuvenate it, then most of the people that live there voted to leave. Makes complete sense!

Really gets an unnecessarily bad reputation. It’s a great place, plenty to do. It’s literally great for a holiday. Not a thing wrong with it, plenty of attractions. Idk what ppl want

Given how ridiculously expensive Edinburgh has become, I think Blackpool could and should run a summer Fringe festival of some sort: loads of new acts and a some really good headliners to get the footfall and you could really transform the place. You could have a week in Blackpool taking in shows for what a night or two in Edinburgh costs you.

Many people are too skint to go on a holiday or even a staycation. I live in a tourist area and it’s very quiet for the school summer holidays.

Blackpool's reputation has been built on nostalgia and value for money. Society has changed immeasurably especially in the last 20 to 25 years. The qualities which british people often attribute to themselves are rapidly becoming less important to the type of person that might consider having a british holiday. Along with other seaside towns on any part of the British coast, there has to be a paragraph shift in self. perception and in self-reflection leading to robust and honest appraisal leading to real action in self improvement. We no longer live in Post Victorian/Early twentieth century Britain.
We live in a country that has, in most part,
|ost its ' soul ! Blackpool End the innumerable other seaside communities must find a new soul or perish.
Controversially, I for one, would consider The demolition of the tower that has represented Blackpool for well over a 150 years and replace it with something equally. Iconic equally recognisable and uniquely blackpool But which is appropriate and reflective of the actual and aspirational qualities of Blackpool.
People in Britain have become accustomer to accepting less than the best and expectations remain low in any context. Because we as a population have constantly been Iet down with half a*sed for So long that expectations and emotions don't really care anymore.. And that is essentially what is wrong.
