When Tyla called herself Coloured, she wasn’t just describing her skin color like in the U.S. sense of “a person of color.” She was identifying with a South African cultural group. Get the difference. Coloured is a legally recognized category from apartheid days that still carries cultural meaning today. She isn't saying that she isn't black she is saying culturally she is Coloured.It usually refers to people of mixed ancestry (African, Asian, European, Indigenous Khoisan, etc.) with their own communities, culture, dialects, and history.
