@waterfowlrescue: Meet our Patient of the Week — this little budgie has been with us for over a month after being surrendered for self-harming and pulling out almost all of his tail feathers. His previous owners had taken him to see a vet, but they couldn’t keep up with the ongoing treatments he needed. Birds can pluck their feathers for many reasons, including stress, boredom, loneliness, poor diet, or underlying medical issues. In his case, we’ve put a tiny cone around his neck to prevent further damage while we address the root cause. We’re not giving up on this sweet boy, but his medical care cost is already at $1,200 and still climbing. Every gift helps us continue his treatment and get him on the path to recovery.
