hes waiting for us to build the inner foundation to hold his love without it getting lost in the noise of our pain. kind of like how someone might not hand a fragile gift to a person who isn’t ready to carry it safely yet, if you can’t show gentleness, patience, or forgiveness to yourself, it becomes harder to recognize those same qualities when they come from god. in a way, self-love can be practice for divine love.
