According to NFL rules this is considered an illegal bat. You cannot throw or tip the ball forward to another player on purpose

Here is the rub for those saying it’s a forward pass. If it’s a forward pass, then you are saying he has possession. If he had possession (or even ‘control’ of the ball) then he has that possession or control past the goal line. We all know that the second someone with possession touches or crosses the goal line, it’s a Touchdown. So if you go with possession/control it’s a TD before the forward pass…if you go with it not being a forward pass, it’s also a TD. Personally, he didn’t have true possession by the rules to me and it’s essentially a tip drill, even though he passed it to a friend. It’s a touchdown.
