For everyone freaking out. Dawn dishsoap does not have lye in it which is damaging to cast iron which is where the rumor of not using soap on cast iron comes from. as long as its re seasoned its perfectly fine.

all these comments think they know something. we used to not use soap on cast iron because of lye. modern dish soap doesn't have lye. it will not ruin a cast iron to use soap in the modern world
