We went to DC in March 2025. It was clean and safe! Walked around at night also. Never felt safer in any city! My husband and I are boomers but we are liberals!

I’m 69, retired at 62.5 and I don’t listen to any news. I’m very much a liberal. I believe that everyone deserves to be respected and supported regardless of their cultural background, LGBTQIA+, race, religion, etc.

It’s so sad- Fox News has single-handedly broken up so many families and contributes to the isolation of older folks. I’m having to limit visit lengths with my older family members because the venom they (through Fox) spew. Shame on Fox!

This is why I encourage everyone to stay curious stay excited to learn and if possible TRAVEL, and I mean travellll!! But I also think as you age and the world starts to move rapidly it may trigger a sense of fear of the unknown or the future and then combine it with something like Fox News and BAM!

I agree about the isolation. It’s easy to see humans as “others” when you are not engaging with people on a personal level. Boomers are subject to that scenario because of their age.

If you are saying they were democrats 20 or so years ago, many have left the Democratic Party over that time frame. The democrats have gone too far left of enter for the folks who grew up when the party was more “in the middle.” If you look at some of the old footage, even from Biden, they are Pushing for policies that now they are against, like border policies for example. Also, brainwashing goes both ways.

Happened to my in laws. They were already vulnerable to propoganda and indoctrination because of their religious beliefs. And they were already somewhat isolated because they lived in a very small, very insular rural community. But once my FIL became home bound due to health, and spent the majority of the day watching Fox News…they bevahe different people.
