I knew it wasn’t gonna be well polished when it took her like a month to write it, then she said she didn’t wanna read it and was gonna hire an editor, then literally like two weeks later she’s saying it being published. There was no time for genuine rewrites or restructuring.

First time authors a lot of the time fall into this pit of trying TOO hard to emulate feelings or emotions they’ve felt before and I think this was the case. Trying too hard to be like Emily Henry and not letting herself find her own voice first

You shouldn't attack her personally. Nothing is wrong with learning a new word. Also since it's her debut novel, it's not going to be perfect. But constructive criticism is needed to learn and improve. So I do get the rest.

It rubs me the wrong way that her main motivation is to become a NYT Best seller, when she doesn’t have the passion or work ethic to be deserving of that title. And she probably will become a NYT best seller because of her influence not because of the writing. I think if someone wants to write a book, go ahead, but it does make me sad for the authors who are so deserving of that title. Writers who spend years, decades, working on their craft only to be overshadowed by this new wave of booktok authors who are so… banal..
