@preschooltherapy: Boundaries from a respectful/gentle/authoritative, discipline = teaching perspective vs an authoritarian, discipline = punishment perspective. Respectful gives tools for long term success. #respectfulparenting #gentleparenting #raisingkids #parenting101 #preschooltherapy
My son will walk up to us randomly and spit on us. Then when we try to correct the behavior he laughs at us.

I’ve done both way and neither works…because once they become stubborn it’s a tug-a-war

And for those who keep pushing against “gentle parenting”: after the time spent talking to the child, you can still say it is time to clean up the puzzle even though the child explained why they want to keep doing it. You don’t have to just let the child do what they are wanting to do.

If I’m being honest, sometimes the comments get to me! I see kids I know, who I know are spanked, & they’re so well behaved, compliant, quieter. My kids are wonderful but you can tell they have more freedom;they challenge rules, push boundaries, I always feel judged.

But what do I do now? I didn’t know about respectful parenting 10yrs ago when my kid was 5. Talking to him now doesn’t work, grounding him from his game, tv,phone doesn’t work.

@Waterbearlove I meant to respond to your comment, but this was to answer your how do we discipline and set boundaries question. Hope this helps.
