LA County includes 88 cities and 120 unincorporated areas. The City of LA is the largest of those 88 cities.

There is no clear consensus. And it’s not really that important. It’s similar to how the geographical boundaries of Greater New York aren’t really that important. What’s New York City and what’s not? Who cares? It’s a megalopolis. So is Los Angeles.

Quick and easy if the street sign are blue your in the city if the street signs are green your in LACounty. Not including major streets but side streets. If you have LAPD your city if you got sheriffs your county

I’m a fifth gen Angeleno, the city of LA stops at Malibu, the Valley, Pasadena, East LA and Long Beach. And as much as Weho, SM, Venice and BH wanna be their own “cities” they are still very much the city of LA.

I think the entire San Fernando Valley needs to break off from City of L.A. That said, cities within L.A. that are other cities such as Inglewood, Pasadena, or Glendale etc., are technical part of L.A. County not part of the City of L.A.

Born and raised in Silverlake/Echo Park/Los Feliz. I dont think most of us care. You just say where you actually live or grew up. If you want to be what is an authentic LA experience, find any neighborhood that is or was predominantly Mexican and get some food there. That's LA to me.

As far as majority of folks who live elsewhere are concerned the entire greater region is “LA.” I’d say the majority of people living here don’t really care about people quibbling online over which neighborhoods are “really” Los Angeles. Frankly These arguments are all up to how people feel about places ather than actual city or county borders.

Most angelinos will tell you which district or neighborhood they live in. Silverlake Canoga Park, Montabello Palms. Sometime that is part of the city of LA sometimes it’s a separate city. Eg Culver City or Burbank. It’s hard to pin down. Then there are people who inaccurately deem a small part of Los Angeles the city. Example: SFV sits within the borders of the city of la. But I always hear people deny that it’s Los Angeles. So there is no concenus to be had. Consult your map if it’s really important to you.

The county is huge. City of LA is big. People that live in the city limits know they do, we vote for mayor and city council. The entire area including the OC is the LA metro area.
