this is why you should back up your data and get an SSD. SSD's are faster than hard drives and last up to 15 years. make sure your SSD has a dram cache, otherwise it'll be slower than a hard drive. I've also been in the same situation before too with a failing hard drive :( it's such a pain to deal with
