No grease = ruining scam bushings = destroying scam tube seal, there are 40+ grease zerks on a simi, grease all of them, and all of those components will last much longer

Nate :
Old heads always told me that greasing the s cam tube puts grease into the drum, and over greasing a slack adjuster makes them not work. Turns out that the tube has a one way seal and slacks require purging of grease

Mr.Fixall :
I put the seal closest to the slack in backwards so grease will leak from the slack end instead of the shoe end

the seal is reversed by the slack adjuster and s-cam and slack are shimed as tight with rotation not restricted

For those who don’t know this. When you are replacing the S-Cam housing bushings. The seal that is on the S-cam head is installed with the grease seal lip facing the tube. This will not allow grease to come out. The slack adjuster side the seal is installed facing away from the tube. This allows grease to purge out on the slack adjuster side.
