I had this surgery for 2 tumors, had a bit of complications, but the surgeons were great. Spent 7 days in ICU, but healed up great afterwards. I’ve found I’ve had quite a bit of sinus/sphenoid sinus infections tho. Constant congestion etc, wonder if it has anything to do with that? Was going to have surgery but Dr didn’t want to risk nicking carotid or fat graph so I’m on 2 special compound meds. Hoping it takes care of problem

Sella turcica and C4 segment of the internal carotid artery I believe on the lateral sides in the cavernous sinus.

I had this done in 2022 to remove a macroadenoma that was causing visual disturbances. But then had multiple CSF leak repairs and ultimately had to get a shunt. 🙃

I have a pituitary adenoma but thankfully it’s stabilized so hopefully I won’t need to have surgery.

That approach is wild! I was a neuro tech for yrs & have seen both done. It depends on where the tumor was located, but probably neither site. 😬

My sister just had this surgery and unfortunately one of the arteries was damaged and had so much complications and now she is in the ICU unconscious. Is that something common in this surgeries?

I have a massive tumor on my carotid artery, (a shawannoma). My neurosurgeon mentioned using this method to get rid of, I totally freaked out and decided not to proceed with surgery.

Thank you for the information! @Khalid: What is the likelihood of injuring some of the the adjacent arteries? Is that common?

That’s the kind of surgeries I had. FESS. From CSF leaks in the cribriform by the ethmoid sinus with a meningocele. It’s an 8 hour procedure with one week laying flat with a lumbar drain. UIC is the best!!!
