DON’T FORGET TAKE OFF THE PLATES!!! because if they drive off after they bought it with your license plate, you’re putting yourself at risk if they do illegal stuff etc.

I’ve done a LOT of deals selling and trading cars on FB MKP, and I always bring 2 friends with me in a separate vehicle and make sure they both have their “tools”, as well as I have mine. Agreed on meeting in public, DO IT DURING THE DAY, not at night. Always bring someone who is *actually* mechanically inclined or meet at a shop to have a mechanic check over the vehicle so you know what you’re getting. If you’re buying a car for more than $5k or so, get the Carfax as well, it can tell a lot about a car. I have never worried about dating a title, putting a price (with the exception of the BoS) or reporting it to the DMV, but always having a Bill of Sale signed by both parties to help prove change of ownership if things go sideways. If you’re too scared to meet up with people or can’t find someone to look at the car, buy or sell to/from a dealership.

My dad helped me with his advice on selling my Kia. He co-signed for her. I took real good care of her tho. The buyer was amazing and paid asking price BECAUSE I took such good care of it.
