It’s definitely harder to hate what everyone loves. You’re left an outcast and can’t understand why people love whatever they love, but when you love something and everyone else hates it, you KNOW why you love it and stand by that. It is almost empowering to like something others don’t. That’s why many people try and find their own ‘niche’. Because liking something that others don’t is fun, new, and exciting

Things are better when they're niche interests amongst a smaller demographic. Look at D&D and Heavy Metal during the Satanic Panic; now look at them today. I'd rather people hate what I love, than have the masses idolize garbage. Honestly a win-win.

Both are equally difficult, but to hate what everyone loves is much more dangerous. It introduces temptation to act destructively for oneself and others.
