Wow I’m jealous 😭I asked over and over about my baby not babbling and doctor told me to wait until 18mo. I knew from 5mo something was wrong. Now at 2 1/2 I’m barely getting his Apraxia diagnosis

When I was a nanny the baby’s mom took the baby at 9-ish months to the doctor bc the baby wasn’t laughing yet. The doc played with the baby yet and concluded, “she’s not laughing bc she doesn’t think you’re funny- she’s on track for every other milestone.” 😂😂😂

We just got a referral for my 11 month old who isn’t babbling yet .. she’s very vocal, lots of different sounds but just not mamama bababa babbling yet. Everyday we try modeling sounds, reading, singing songs.. I’m hoping she just picks it up one day?

I went to my pediatrician when my son was 9mo old. My therapist said the same as you. He was eventually diagnosed Level 1… Early intervention was life changing for my son. I am so thankful I advocated.

My son's ped asked if he was saying 3 words at 9 months and told me he should be. Is that true? At the time he wasn't saying words but now he's 11 mo and says mama, bubba, baba (mainly when hes just babbling). I told her I was not concerned unless he was 1 and not saying anything.

I had a referral for a 10 month who wasn’t saying dada yet. Had two moms and said mama all the time 😂

My daughter did not babble at all and barely laughed until about 11 months old! I don’t know why I wasn’t more concerned. She’s fully verbal now, has a huge vocabularly. Just an observer for the first few months I guess!

Is there anything you can even do speech wise before 18 months or so if they aren’t having any feeding issues? Like from what I’ve heard from a friend and a relative is they essentially just do intentional play. Like I get a lot of what you do with toddlers and preschoolers in speech is still mainly play based but …. 😂 my toddler has delayed gross motor and sometimes I feel like she would have done the same with or without early intervention it felt pointless. Like not formal enough and hands on enough from the therapist. She crawled at 13 months walked at 22 months and started around 10 months.

I’m so so thankful for our ped. My husband and I went to our daughter 3yr appt with concerns and asking about OT. She sent the referral that day and we had an eval 5 days later.

As a pediatric NP, I find that the parents are the ones that refuse referrals and insist on waiting, Thrn later complain that they weren't referred early enough. If you looked back in some of our charts, you might see a different story than what you are told.

Thank you for siding with the parents! I spoke up at my son’s 9 mo ck (he’s my 4th). Concerned about lack of engagement and eye contact. Dr said no he just looked at me . 😳 Ended up dx with Autism eventually and early intervention (and new Dr)

So question, my baby is 5 months old but 3 months adjusted (preemie). He seems to be cooing. Sometimes he does little raspberry bubbles with his spit up he refuses to spit out too 😒🤦🏻♀️but the only consonants he can do so far is g, d, maybe l, k (on occasion) and n. I wanna say “g” was his first consonant. Is this normal? I thought it was supposed to be m, b, and p first?! I’m so confused why he can say “guh” “aguh” “agooh” but not those

that's so young! I asked for a referral at 18 months cuz my son had no consonant sounds and wasn't learning any either. Started speech therapy right around 2 yo. Took little over 3 years for him to catch up
