It’s traditional to have with a semi firm cheese like queso fresco. It’s the equivalent of a French or Italian dessert of cheese with jam. It’s also common to have queso fresco with figs in honey which is a similar flavour combination. My mom used to make little sandwiches of this paste with cheese as a breakfast with coffee.

Guava paste 😂😂😂 In Puerto Rico it comes in blocks wrapped in plastic or in a can that is mad hard to open. Try it with cheddar cheese😮💨
