I've lived in Barking for ages, finally we got a boujie restaurant. I'm normally very sceptical of these swanky type places the food is tends to be a let down...NOT the case here. The food was really impressive. Decor is stunning, with fantastic interior design that makes you forget you're in Barking... unless you look out of the window. What I ordered Rock Prawns £14 ⭐ Calamari £11 Cheese Roll £8 Halloumi £8.5 Wagyu Slider £14 Sucuk with Humus £8.5 Short Ribs £22 approx Mixed Shish £23 Half Lobster £39 Rib Eye Steak medium rare £38 star ⭐ Mac & Cheese £8 Various Mocktails £8 My highlight was the Rib Eye Steak, very impressed with the quality and taste, cooked to a perfect medium rare, there was a deep rich buttery meaty flavour and melt-in-your-mouth tenderness, served with a rich mushroom sauce and sweet potato fries. Recommended The mixed shish came with Chicken and Lamb, they use lamb neck, so it's super soft and has a different flavour profile, this was very good, I recommend getting a Lamb Shish over a chicken or mixed. The Rock Prawns, a spin on the dynamite prawns were fantastic, the Bang Bang sauce had good flavour and the addition of the red onion salad was perfect. All other dishes were solid, particularly the sliders and cheese roll, with no major issues with the food whatsoever. The short ribs were tasty but could have been softer. The BBQ glaze wasn't quite my favourite, but overall, it was still good. The only downside was a slightly longer wait time for the food, but considering it was a soft launch, it's understandable. Plus, I'd wait for food this good! The desserts weren't quite on par with the rest of the meal. I don't normally order Mocktails, but tried 3 and they were all good. De Roya is a welcome addition to Barking. They've nailed the perfect combination of stylish ambience and delicious food. Plus, they offer a fantastic lunch deal - a two-course set menu for just £15.95 between 12 PM and 4 PM! PARKING TIP: The Asda next door, is Free for 3 hours if you spend £5 on shopping.
