Why should tax dollars contribute to unhealthy eating habits. Between 2017 and 2020 44% of adults and 26% of children on SNAP were obese. 20% of children on SNAP have high cholesterol putting them at high risk for heart disease in their 20’s and 30’s. Leading to higher health care costs over their lifetime. Sweet treats are a luxury and not a necessity for nutritional consumption. They are wasted calories that have adverse effects on health. The government isn’t saying they can’t have soda, candy and other empty calories, they are saying you just have to pay cash for it if you want it. You know like your cigarettes, MJ and Beer. So it’s about choices. Tax payers aren’t responsible for your poor choices especially when you can get your nails done and your hair done.
