as someone who has been in the upholstery business for about 15 years, I can say that 100% of every painted piece I have ever stripped down was full of mold. The foam used in home furnishings is not meant to hold moisture. it has teeny tiny closed cells and takes forever to dry. your paint dries before the foam and seals it all in, then it becomes a breeding ground for mold. it is a fun way to save furniture, but I would make sure it can dry thoroughly. If you can remove covers first and paint, it won't do that!
