orsted did admit that rudeus put him through the ringer though, in the conversion on the last two chapters of volume 15, sure mostly due to rudeus taking him off guard , but it wasn't a wasted effort

He was still super young. i'd like to know what late 20's early 30's Rudeus could do if he plotted for years to defeat orsted. we will never know though lol

not really but the cost will be so big that orsted won't have enough mana to fight hitogami so I count that as a win in my book

Orsted has said later on towards the end of the series, that if he were to lay a trap for him, Rudy would win. If it were a fair fight, Orsted would win. This is mostly because Rudy has many new spells unknown to Orsted as they were his own original spells. Also by this time, he has made battle armor comparable to the battle god. Even though Rudy was by the end of his story, the seventh great power, he was limited by the fact he was a mage. He is easily the greatest mage in the world at this point but swordsman are much more op in this series than people realize.
