Because there is no reliable system for quality control or consumer protection in these transactions, people lose trust, and the cycle of scams continues. I estimate that around 95% of the phones sold in Ghana are refurbished, but they are rarely sold transparently or with guaranteed quality. This creates a huge gap in the market for a trusted company like Back Market, which can bring credibility, fairness, and reliability to consumers here. Another major issue is logistics. Ghana’s delivery system is not as advanced as in other countries. However, we have a reliable alternative: many people use intercity bus drivers to transport packages safely across regions. Customers pick up their products at bus stations when the driver arrives. I believe this existing system could be adapted for secure and efficient delivery of Back Market devices nationwide. To prepare myself, I have started learning how to build an online store on Shopify. My plan is to import products from Back Market and adjust the pricing for the Ghanaian market.
