On September 7, 1996, Tupac Shakur was in Las Vegas, Nevada, to attend a Mike Tyson boxing match at the MGM Grand with Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight. After the fight, around 11:00 PM, Tupac got into a physical altercation with Orlando Anderson, a known Crips gang member, in the hotel lobby, an incident caught on security cameras. Hours later, Tupac and Suge were driving to a nightclub in a black BMW when they stopped at a red light near the intersection of Flamingo Road and Koval Lane. At 11:15 PM, a white Cadillac pulled up beside them, and an unknown gunman opened fire, hitting Tupac four times, twice in the chest, once in the arm, and once in the thigh. Suge Knight was grazed by a bullet but managed to speed away from the scene before being stopped by police and paramedics. Tupac was rushed to the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, placed on life support, and underwent multiple surgeries.
