We had a sythe leaned up on the side of the house when I was growing up… we weren’t on a farm, we lived in the suburbs.

In my wip I have two scythe welders, one has a scythe that’s more like a double edged pick that a farming tool, with the outer edge being sharpened, while the other one is a execution tool that just so happens to be the only weapon like this the primarily magic user is proficient with

actually I have a reason why my oc is using a scythe, she's the kind of person that doesn't wanna hurt anyone but because of the war ridden land she lives on that is not possible and she actually enjoys swordfighting as a hobby so when she's actually fighting she uses a scythe because she believes she shouldn't be able to have any enjoyment from hurting others

Scythes wouldn’t be great as they are but conscripted commoners didn’t really have a choice. The scythe offers reach you wouldn’t normally have. I think a sickle would give better control but not very useful in all out warfare. If the scythe were modified, not in the way you described by reversing the blade, but by rotating the blade into more of a glaive it might be better. Not as good as an actual glaive though definitely more of a polearm.

the polearm is the best weapon. and the spear is the king of war. the sword is glazed aswell
