President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. graces the opening ceremony of the 14th WorldSkills ASEAN Competition, the largest showcase of professional and technical skills in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Region, at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Newport Boulevard, Pasay City on August 25, 2025. Dubbed WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025, the biennial competition is now in its 14th year, with the Philippines hosting for the second time since 1996. Nearly a thousand delegates, including close to 300 top youth competitors from the nine (9) ASEAN Member States (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand) plus Timor Leste, as an Observer State, will compete in 32 skill areas across six (6) sectors. Vietnam has withdrawn from this year’s competition due to funding limitations caused by institutional reorganization. President Marcos Jr., along with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Secretary Jose Francisco Benitez and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma, officially launches the WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025 during the program. Through TESDA, the Philippines continues to actively participate in the prestigious competition by showcasing the country’s commitment to aligning its tech-voc training programs with international standards. This supports the President’s goal of developing a multi-skilled and globally competitive Filipino workforce. WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025 runs from August 25 to 30. The main competition takes place at the World Trade Center and the Philippine Trade Training Center from August 26 to 28, while the closing ceremony is on August 30 at the SMX Convention Center. #pbbm #bongbongmarcos #bagongpilipinas #tiktok #fyppppppppppppppppppppppp
