The premise of this is 100% WRONG. attachment style typically only pertains to the most intimate/closest relationships. Actual avoidants are VERY GOOD at keeping up with friends (bc friends don't typically put vulnerability demands or emotional parameters on that relationship). Avoidants EXCEL at surface level relationships, like the roommate from 20 yrs ago or the high school friend theyve known for 30+ yrs -- those don't require much to maintain, just occasional check ins.. literally the DA sweet spot. for severe DAs (who can often behave like a narcissist to their partners), this plethora of "friends" is what keeps them convinced they're not the problem (bc their friends never see that side) AND it keeps their partners trapped (bc none of the countless friends believe their reports of how the DA is behind closed doors). These friendships allow the severe DA to play/maintain mindset that they are the victim.
