As a woman who had a hysterectomy 5 years ago but still has her ovaries, Luteal is harder than ever, setting off the PMDD like never before. When this hits, all I want is to eat ALL the things, whether they are good for me or not…and usually, they leave me feeling worse than before. So, I decided awhile back to try out different recipes for sweet treats that will hit the spot but not crash me out after. I wanted them to be nutrient dense so I could feel like I was actually supporting my body during Luteal rather than beating on it. I wanted to feel good about the choices I was making even when I am not feeling my best. So here’s another recipe I have given a shot. 1 cup mashed roasted sweet potato 2 eggs ¼ pure maple syrup 2 tsp vanilla extract ¼ cup tahini ½ cup cocoa powder ¼ cup flour of choice (I just ground up oats) 2 tbs ground flaxseed 1 tb chia 1 tsp baking powder ½ tsp cinnamon Pinch of salt ¼ cup dark chocolate chips 2 tbsp pumpkin seeds Mix wet and dry ingredients separately, then combine. Preheat oven to 350°F and bake 25–28 minutes, until set but still fudgy in the center. These brownies are like a luteal-phase care package in dessert form. The sweet potato and oats give you steady energy and B6 to support mood and progesterone, while eggs and tahini add protein and healthy fats to balance hormones and curb cravings. Flax, chia, and pumpkin seeds bring fiber, omega-3s, zinc, and magnesium to ease bloating, reduce cramps, and stabilize emotions. Cocoa and dark chocolate boost serotonin and provide magnesium for relaxation, and cinnamon helps keep blood sugar (and mood) steady. Altogether, they feel indulgent but actually nourish your body when it needs support most. We can’t escape ALL the stuff that’s not entirely good for us, but we can make more conscious choices that reduce the negative impacts. Thank me later. ♥️ #lutealphase #healthybrownies #womenshealth #pmdd #foodisfuel
