I hate that I'm using this term, but "newgens" need to understand that just because an anime isn't as popular as say JJK or Demon Slayer today, doesn't make it an unknown anime. Ask most people who watched anime before Covid and they'd most likely heard or seen Angel Beats

2010s peak anime culture will always be what “anime” is in my head, like angel beats, haruhi suzumiya, clannad, SAO, anohana, future diary, gurren lagann, etc. like that’s what i grew up with and it was sooo popular in the mid 2010s i can’t believe people are calling those underrated 😭

The way Angel Beats, Vampire Knight, Soul Eater, Durarara, Elden Lied, The Meloncoly of Haruhi Suzumiya were burnt into every anime fans minds. I hadn’t even watched some of these but they were just so prevalent in the anime world there was no way not being exposed eventually. It’s so weird watching as our history and culture becomes obscure to the new ppl claiming our spaces 🥺 I’ve met so many newer fans who don’t even wanna give older anime a chance like why would u not honor ur ancestors dawg 😭😭😭
