If they were to do that, how the hell are they going to run a state budget with the lost revenue. They’d have to make it somewhere else probably sales tax, which is far more regressive.

I don’t see this going anywhere. They might approve a small rebate at the state level but the counties control property taxes. The state would need to drastically increase local option sales taxes to cover it and residents would be leery to pass.
