My mom would say it’s because god gave us free will, knowing that some would rebel, but he wanted us to be the best we could be so we have free will but at a cost. It’s a clever work around but doesn’t get to the heart of the matter. Another reason I’m an ex-evangelical.

I left because of the hypocrisy. They say to love everybody and don’t judge. If every church in the US helped two homeless people or help one child get adopted, there wouldn’t be enough homeless people or kids to help. They just feel morally superior and sit on their own imaginary thrones.

LOL 🤣 I left fundamentalist Christianity and almost lost my faith altogether. But I still have faith , just a different brand of it You are being as literal and as narrow in your logic as they are just from the opposite position. And I get it. America worships an Americanized version of God. We can explain love away to bunch of chemicals and circumstances. Does that mean it is any less magical? Does it mean there is no spirit involved because someone can explain it away? We have human limited understanding. God is said to be Love. Or you can think of spiritual things being a lot like love. Do loving parents make mistakes with their children? Real bad ones? Yes. Do they love them any less? Not in many cases. The spiritual realm isn't meant to be looked thru only a lense of one track of human reasoning where 2+2=4. Spirituality love and God is more complex than your mind. If you want to shut down evangelicals fine. Just be careful that you don't let their own hate for the real God and things of spirit also lock you out.
